Abstract

Purpose: Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the influencing factors on posttraumatic growth (PTG) of nursing students with traumatic experiences.

Methods: A survey were conducted with 82 nursing students at a college in Busan. Data were collected from April 20 to 23, 2018, and analyzed with SPSS PASW 23.0.

Results: In the multiple regression, PTG was positively correlated with perceived social support (r=.43, p£¼.001), resilience (r=.38, p£¼.001), diliberated rumination (r=.36, p=.001). The factors influencing PTG were perceived social support (¥â=.40, p=.033), marital status (¥â=.38, p=.034). The variable that had the highest impact was perceived social support and the explanation power of the regression model was 39.7% (F=3.48, p=.006).

Conclusion: The finding of this study indicate that perceived social support and marital status are essential for PTG in nursing students with posttraumatic experiences. Thus, enhancing perceived social support would be an effective strategy to improve PTG in nursing students with posttraumatic experiences.
